Are We Counting What Counts?
The Costs, Savings and Value of Prevention in a Post Health Reform World

September 21, 2010
8:30 AM to 11:00 AM

Columbus Club
at Union Station
50 Massachusetts Ave, NE
Washington, DC

Prevention and wellness are central elements of the just-enacted health reform law. This new focus could transform the nation’s illness-oriented, reactive medical care model to a more proactive, wellness-oriented approach. Some say this will save money. Others aren’t so sure.

Join us September 21, for a policy summit that asks economists, policy experts, and public officials to explore prevention, cost, and value:

  • Does prevention really save money? Over what time period?
  • How should we determine value?
  • Should cost-savings trump all other considerations?
  • How do we factor-in the economic impact of keeping people healthy and productive?
  • What are the implications for federal budgeting and CBO scoring?
